The Vision
The Strength of Mind® website was established to meet the needs of two groups of people: mental health patients and mental health providers.
It is the contention of Strength of Mind that many patients who suffer from mild mental health problems--depression, for example--do not have ready access to treatment or do not choose to get it. In short, many of the simpler forms of mental health problems go untreated needlessly. The result is many people not getting as much enjoyment from life as they should and have the right to do.
The reasons for this are many and varied. In some cases, it is a matter of inconvenience; family and job pressures may preclude seeking treatment. Sometimes there is a social stigma associated with being treated by a mental health professional. However, in today's world there are fewer barriers to getting the needed treatment. Strength of Mind's goal is to make such treatment even more accessible and affordable.
In short, the desire is to help qualified physicians give treatment to people in need who would not otherwise get the help they need.
It is also the goal of Strength of Mind to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of physicians themselves. The Strength of Mind® website is designed to speed up the process and timeliness of mental health treatment by these professionals.
